The deep green on the walls of the client’s bedroom was so dark that it looked almost black, making her room feel smaller than it was. It was also difficult to match with the client’s bedding and other decorative objects. The client wanted to repaint the walls herself so they would be a better match for the red brick and greenish hues of her favorite bedding.

Repainting the walls is sometimes the easiest way to transform surroundings in the most dramatic way.

Choose your colors

Color selection is perhaps the hardest part of any painting project. The client chose Garlic Cream, which not only matched her dark wooden furniture well, but also her brick-and-green bedding.

Garlic Cream has a yellowish undertone, but it doesn’t make it look warm or dusty. Samhwa Paints’ NCS 950 collection includes lots of yellowish colors that perfectly match the warmer months. The tools you need for a job like this are a paint pad, plastic drop sheets and masking tape for protecting surrounding surfaces, and paint roller and brushes. We recommend using a paint pad or a paint roller for large areas. Paint edgers and brushes are for smaller and more delicate surfaces, such as trim and doorknobs.

If you want to paint directly on existing silk wallpaper, we recommend the Brush Master painting pad and edger, as these items can easily cover uneven surfaces without leaving brush strokes behind. As with anything in life, the right tools are essential to achieving success in painting as well.

Applying the primer

Since the client’s walls were deep green in color, it was crucial to apply a paint primer to them before applying the chosen color. Applying a paint primer enhances the adhesion and color of the paint.

Applying the paint

Now that the paint primer has been applied and dried, the client can start painting Garlic Cream onto her walls. iLux Multi Flat is perfect for jobs like this because every paint in the collection is odorless and easily applicable. Be sure to remove the masking tape before the paint has completely dried.
